A high-ranking Russian army officer has been killed following an detonation in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The incident occurred on Monday morning when an bomb placed beneath a vehicle was set off, leading to the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov was the head of the armed forces' operational training department.
